In this context, the main objective of this article is to examine the effects of airport concessions in Brazil, specifically with regard to the definition of reference elements to guide strategies for ex-post evaluation of current projects and decision-making on long-term approaches. In methodological terms, the studies followed three sequential steps. Initially, literature and documentary research was conducted on the topic. Then, secondary data were used within the scope of an evaluation modeling from a multidimensional perspective and submitted to outcome evaluation procedures. Finally, semi-structured interviews were applied with actors involved in the air transport sector with a legitimate interest in the theme, whose inputs were submitted to the content analysis technique. The findings guide contributions of a twofold nature. First, it summarizes the application of an ex-post results evaluation framework according to a multidimensional perspective. Then, perceptions and expectations obtained from the content analysis of the interviews are consolidated, allowing reflection on possible criteria capable of guiding decisions by the public authorities on long-term approaches for airport concessions. In conclusion, this article enables reflection on the usefulness of adopting traceable criteria in decision-making processes on airport concessions as a strategy to ensure proper exploitation and development of airport infrastructure, including by promoting greater transparency for all stakeholders.
