ANÁLISE DE TÉCNICAS DE DETECÇÃO ATRAVÉS DE CÂMERAS EMBARCADAS EM VANTS NO PROCESSO DE DETECTAR E DESVIAR DE OUTRA AERONAVE

Abstract

THE NUMBER OF UAVS (UNMANNED AERIAL VEHICLES), AS WELL AS THEIR USE, HAS INCREASED CONSIDERABLY IN RECENT YEARS. HOWEVER, ITS INSERTION IN A NON-SEGREGATED AIRSPACE CAN BECOME A THREAT OF COLLISION WITH OTHER AIRCRAFT THAT SHARE THE SAME AIRSPACE. TO AVOID COLLISIONS, THE PROCESS CURRENTLY USED IS CALLED SENSE AND AVOID, AS IT CONSISTS OF TWO STEPS: THE DETECTION (SENSE) OF ANOTHER AIRCRAFT ON A COLLISION COURSE AND THE DEVIATION (AVOID) TO AVOID THE COLLISION COURSE FOUND. EACH OF THESE STEPS CAN BE ACHIEVED IN DIFFERENT WAYS, EITHER BY USING A SPECIFIC BYPASS TECHNIQUE, OR BY CHANGING THE SENSOR OR THE DETECTION ALGORITHM ASSOCIATED WITH THAT SENSOR. THIS WORK FOCUSES ON THE FIRST STAGE, ANALYZING THE DETECTION PROCESS OF ANOTHER AIRCRAFT AND USING THREE DIFFERENT COMBINATIONS OF SENSORS: BINOCULAR VISION, WHICH CONSISTS OF THE USE OF TWO VISUAL CAMERAS WORKING TOGETHER; THE DEPTH CAMERA; AND THE DEPTH CAMERA IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE VISUAL CAMERA. TESTS THAT USED FUSION TECHNIQUES OF THE DESCRIBED SENSORS ARE ALSO ANALYZED, WHICH USE TWO OR THREE SENSORS WORKING TOGETHER TO DETECT ANOTHER AIRCRAFT WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF COLLISION SUCH AS THE UAV. FOR A GROUP OF SENSORS, SEVERAL TYPES OF DETECTION ALGORITHMS WERE ANALYZED AND TESTED. THE TESTS WERE CARRIED OUT USING AIRSIM, AN UNMANNED VEHICLE SIMULATOR. THE ANALYSIS OF THE ALGORITHMS WAS CARRIED OUT BY VERIFYING THE DETECTION RATE AND THE ERROR OF THE AIRCRAFT POSITION CALCULATED BY THE ALGORITHM, CONSIDERING THE REAL POSITION OF THE DETECTED AIRCRAFT. IN THE END, A RESULT IS REACHED IN WHICH THE AIRCRAFT ON A COLLISION COURSE WITH THE UAV IS DETECTED IN 100% OF THE CASES TESTED, WITH AN AVERAGE ERROR OF 20 METERS BETWEEN THE DETECTED POSITION AND THE ACTUAL POSITION OF THE AIRCRAFT.
